You know how news stories go on about protests in rural areas? How it is related to service delivery failure?
You honestly feel bad when you hear about them. They've been waiting for years for a better life, to be treated as proper citizens. You know the arguments.
Then you hear that the protesters went ahead and attacked foreign shops in their area.
That's when I stopped sympathizing. And muttered a few choice words.
If you are demanding basic human rights, practice what you preach and stop taking it away from other people. After all, everyone has a right to live.
Quote from The Times:
In one incident, protestors looted a shop and assaulted its Chinese owner. One person fleeing the scene said "they’re going to kill that man". Ethiopian Nasir Hairtenan said his shop was looted last night. He said that "a mob came in with pangas and stones and they broke windows" and beat the Ethiopian staff.
